We've had a few fun contests and giveaways over the past couple months, but as we get deeper into our development cycle, we're ready to step things up a notch. From now throughout the month of December, we will be looking for artists and writers to help bring out the magic in our beers. We have two specific jobs to be done, one for a story line to compliment our upcoming brew, and the other for a label design concept.

In submitting an entry for either of these jobs, keep in mind that not only are you submitting on the work at hand, but you are also being screened for future work. We are in the beginning stages of our business, and we're looking to build long lasting relationships with talented people. As a community driven project, we will be accrediting all major works in one way or another. This is a great opportunity to jump on board and help grow an exciting new project, with a possibility of gaining some national recognition along the way.

We have narrowed the beer style down to an ESB or an amber ale, or possibly a lager. Either way, it will be full body and flavor... the tie up is in the bitterness. A less bitter beer would appeal to a broader market as we get started, allowing us to move into the bitter beers after we are established. On the other hand, the craft brewer in us is screaming for some hops! At this point, we're leaving it up to the artists and writers to influence our decision. This will be a Dwarven beer, and we expect the Dwarves to have a steampunk, or somewhat industrialized influence that would open them up to modern brewing techniques.

If we choose to use your entry, You'll earn $500. You can also submit a combination story and label design for a chance to earn up to $1000. We will review the entries throughout the month, and announce the "winners" early January. If anyone has any questions about the brewing process, we recommend turning to the forums for help.

Story Line (Writers):

Each of our beers will have a unique story line about how it's made. The story should stand on it's own, but be open enough to tie into future development of the surrounding world. While stories about dragons breath in beer are exciting, our first beers need to be accepted by the average beer drinker, so we will have to save the more extreme stories until we get the basics covered.

Label Design (Artists):

Artists should think authenticity here. Maybe Dwarven script, or a hand drawn image... something that you could picture a Dwarf using for a label. Again, we could use the steampunk / industrial background to accommodate some sort of printing system, but 3D art might be harder to justify.
