Welcome to Fantasy Brewmasters. This project has been under development since March of '09, and we are excited to finally be releasing it to the public. The concept and design of the project have changed dramatically over the past six months, and we think you'll be pleased with where it's going.

Originally the idea started off as a line of beers based on those found in the popular online game, World of Warcraft. When practicality hit, we decided that we would be better off focusing our efforts on creating a product line that could be enjoyed not only by Warcraft players, but also cater to other role-playing games, and Fantasy enthusiasts in general. Not only did this allow for greater creative freedom, but it also opened us up for a new spin on doing business.

As we looked into our development process, we had a nagging thought of how cool it would be to involve the community. Open Source and GPL (general public license) were some of the ideas building up the anticipation in our hearts. The big questions were, how could we implement these ideas into a beer product, and how could we sustain a business with it? In the end we settled on what we call an Open Development business model.

The pillars of our Open Development model are as follows:

GPL: One of the key components of Open Source is General Public Licensing. This was important to transfer to our model. We want the people that participate in the development process to be able to recreate our products on their own. To accomplish this, Fantasy Brewmasters will make it's production recipes available to the public. This means that you are free to recreate and redefine the company's products for personal, non-commercial use. We will also make available special release label templates for anyone wanting to brew their own Fantasy Brewmasters beers. All we ask in return is that you give us credit when serving your friends, and educate them about the project. This is as close as we can literally get to the term "Free as in beer".

Compensation: Fantasy Brewmasters is a business designed to make a profit from selling it's products. While community projects are great, nobody wants to see someone else making a profit off their work or ideas without getting something in return. For this reason, compensation was another important factor in our model. Fantasy Brewmasters looks to compensate for work performed through contests as much as possible. Community members will have opportunities to submit on contests for label design, story lines, and sometimes even recipes for commercial development. Who knows, maybe you will gain some national recognition along the way - not a bad addition to your portfolio or resume either.

Community: Fantasy Brewmasters has evolved from an idea of enjoyment. We love gaming, brewing, graphic design and art, and fantasy literature. Why not roll it all up and enjoy it with everyone else. Whether it's Friday night Warcraft raids, Sunday brew sessions, or kicking back to browse the latest stories and artwork online, Fantasy Brewmasters is all about community. Meet other Fantasy fans, and build connections with other enthusiasts.

Technology: We have big plans for the future, and we are dedicated to providing the highest quality in everything we bring to you. We have a few major improvements in the works in the gallery portion of the website, as well as general tweaks (CSS, styling, and icon clean up) here and there. As we move forward, we will strive to keep our community site up to date with the latest technology in order to offer the best user experience.

All and all, we've put an incredible amount of time into building the ultimate Fantasy community, and are excited to welcome you to it.
