TOPIC: Favorite Beers

Favorite Beers 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago
What are your favorite beers - of all the beers you’ve had over the years, which ones stick out the most?

What do you drink most often?

What is your lawn-mower, or trash beer of choice?

Personal favorite is Murphy's Stout. I drink Shiner Bock most often though.

Favorite commercial beers:
Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout
Wychwood Hobgoblin
Redhook IPA and ESB

Most Drank:
Homebrew - IPAs and ESBs

Trash beer:
Busch - cheap, comes in [cheap] cans (good for 4 wheelers and boats), tastes like [cheap] water (good for hot Florida days) + it's cheap

My favorite beer?

Well, at the moment it would be between:

  • MacTarnahan's Amber Ale (Portland, Oregon)

  • Mac and Jack's African Amber (Redmond, Washington)

  • Walking Man Brewery's Pale Strider (Stevenson, Washington. Inspired by Aragorn from the Lord of the Rings)

  • McMennamin's Nut Brown (Portland, Oregon)

  • McMennamin's Nebraska Bitter (Portland, Oregon)

For trash beer? Either Dos Equis (which isn't trash at all, but I guess counts as cheap) or Budweiser. Usually, when going for ultra-cheap I head for Carlo Rossi's "Hearty Burgundy" or Manischewitz "Loganberry." Notice the word "wine" appears nowhere on those labels...

My beer tastes probably won't be as exotic as some others... I'm getting there!

Top 3 beers: Sam Adams Boston Lager, Harpoon IPA, Sam Adams Boston Brick Red

Latest enjoyable find: Sam Adams Noble Pils

Favorite crap beer: Coors Light. This is a holdover from my college bays, and I always drink it with a fond sense of nostalgia. Even though I prefer Bud Light as a lowend beer now, I always find myself going back to The Silver Bullet.

You probably notice a trend with my beer tastes... I'm from the Boston area and have a fondness/loyalty for good old Jim Koch and crew. I've branched out and tried a lot of other beers from around the country, but these are the ones I keep going back to so I'd have to call them my favorites.

Hey, exotic or no, you'll get alot of street cred from the beer world by mentioning Sam Adams in your list. The Sam Adams brew co. is one of the few large independents in the world, and the fact that they survived against Annehiser-Busch and the other mega-breweries is a credit to the quality of their product!
